WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s calls for protests ahead of his anticipated indictment in New York have generated mostly muted reactions from supporters, with even some of his most ardent loyalists dismissing the idea as a waste of time or a law enforcement trap.The ambivalence raises questions about whether Trump, though a leading Republican contender in the 2024 presidential race who retains a devoted following, still has the power to mobilize far-right supporters the way he did more than two years ago before the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. OTTAWA — The federal government says the Nexus trusted-traveller program will fully ramp back up within five weeks, allowing frequent border crossers to complete their applications and speed up their trips.Registering for the program has been halted in Canada for nearly a year after Nexus enrolment centres unlocked their doors in the United States, due in part to a clash over U.S. agents’ right to carry guns on Canadian soil, among other legal protections.The standoff led to a massive backlog in applications for the program, which allows pre-approved travellers to cross the border more quickly.A compromise announced at a summit in January that Canadian border agents will now interview Nexus applicants separately from U.S. agents at eight Canadian airports, rather than together like before the COVID-19 pandemic.The Canada Border Services Agency says enrolment centres will reopen for applicant sit-downs at the Halifax and Winnipeg airports on March 27, followed by a staggered re...

HALIFAX — A student was arrested after three people were stabbed Monday morning at a high school in the Halifax area, police say.The three injured people were taken to hospital for treatment, but the extent of their injuries remains unclear.Police said they responded to a weapons complaint at around 9:20 a.m., and a suspect was taken into custody about 10 minutes later at Charles P. SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- Two teenagers on a spring break vacation died Sunday after a sledding accident at a Colorado ski resort, authorities said.The Summit County Sheriff’s Office said they responded around 8:35 p.m. for a reported sledding accident at Copper Mountain Ski Resort involving 17- and 18-year-old males from Illinois.They reportedly rode tandem down a half pipe and launched off a large snowbank at the bottom of the half pipe.
